FDA Review of Soy Protein-based Foods' Health Claim

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is reviewing a petition for a health claim suggesting the consumption of soy protein-based foods may reduce the risks of certain types of cancer, including breast, prostate and colon cancer. The Solae Company submitted the petition to seek approval of the claim, focusing on 58 studies supporting the relationship between the consumption of soy protein-based foods and reduced risk of developing these types of cancers. Expert researchers from The Solae Company's Health & Nutrition and Nutraceuticals team spearheaded the research results on which the petition is based. The Solae Company, 800-325-7108
