An Eye on You

Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is one of the most common degenerative eye diseases afflicting older people. A growing body of research shows that a diet rich in lutein and zeaxanthin, two carotenoids found in egg yolks, may help prevent the progression of AMD and other eye diseases such as cataracts. Egg yolks are one of the most bioavailable sources of lutein, and 100g of liquid egg yolk provides 1,094mcg of lutein and zeaxanthin.
