The FDA acknowledges that both soy protein and sterols can provide a means for consumers to help reduce their risk of heart disease as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol. As a result, consumer products with these ingredients can carry unqualified heart health claims. “ADM has developed a toolbox of water-dispersible sterols which complements our broad range of protein ingredients, such as Nutrisoy[r] Isolates and Organic Whole Bean Powder,” said Steven Furcich, president-ADM Natural Health & Nutrition. “The acquisition of additional patents for the combination of soy protein and sterols in functional foods helps us provide a more complete ingredient offering to our customers for their consumer products.” ADM, Graham Keen, 217-451-8675
